Template 02

The short follow-up

Send 5 to 7 days after a request that did not get a reply.

Subject: A quick follow-up

Just resurfacing this in case it got buried. Your perspective on [product or project] would help other people understand what it is like to work with us.

If now is not a good time, no problem at all. If it is, you can share a short reply here: [testimonial link]

Thanks,

Template 04

The video-first ask

Use when a face and voice would add helpful context to the story.

1. What problem were you trying to solve?

3. Who would you recommend it to?

No download or setup is needed. Use this link whenever you are ready: [testimonial link]

Thank you,
[your name]

FAQ

Common questions about asking for testimonials

When should I ask for a testimonial?
Ask soon after a real moment of value: a successful launch, a resolved support issue, a repeat purchase, or a clear result. Refer to that moment so the request feels personal.
How long should a testimonial request be?
Keep the request short enough to understand at a glance. Say why you are asking, make the next step obvious, and give the customer permission to decline.
Should I ask for a written or video testimonial?
Offer both when you can. A written reply is lower effort, while a short video can add personality and context. Let the customer choose the format they are comfortable with.
What questions make a testimonial more useful?
Ask about the customer’s starting point, the change they noticed, and who they think would benefit. Specific prompts produce more useful detail than a general request for feedback.
